Choosing and following a narrative is like surfing.




The wave-patterns of material reality are the real substance of life, and it's beautiful.
But for a real rush, we seem to really love following one thread and playfully pretending it's The One--as a surfer picks his wave, as a fan picks his team, as a person chooses his fate.

Nice post-- were you in CT? I was listening to loud wave patterns in the dark last night, I was moved. Sonny Rollins "Horn Culture" is my new favorite record, surpassing "Aretha Franklin Live in '69".

I think that the surfer embraces/indulges in the wave patterns, while the sports-fan, by participating in a strange and rigid construct, rejects wave patterns. Hmmm...but the sports-fan probably gets to eat more nachos, so it's hard to say who comes out on top...
